Hotel New Otani Tokyo is committed to offering a safe and comfortable experience to all guests who stay or dine with us, or visit our facilities.

Several efforts are being made within the hotel, including qualification for two international hygiene standards as shown below, workplace vaccination not only for hotel staff but also employees of tenant shops and offices within the building, use of masks, physical distancing, placement of hand sanitizer stations, and temperature screening.

GBAC STAR™ Accreditation

The Global Biorisk Advisory Council ( is a division of the worldwide cleaning industry association ISSA, and its GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation program is the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation for facilities. A GBAC STAR accreditation indicates that the facility’s standard procedures for cleaning, sanitization, and infection prevention meet the criteria defined by GBAC’s hygiene specialists. (

Forbes Travel Guide, recognized as the global rating standard for luxury hotels, restaurants, and spas, offers in alliance with health and wellness company Sharecare, a certification system for facilities that meet a total of more than 360 global health security standards including cleaning and hygiene protocols, ventilation, physical distancing, and health management of employees.

Efforts related to accommodation services

Ventilation of guestroom floors
Please note that the emergency exit doors on the guestroom floors are currently being opened once every few hours, for ventilation purposes.
Guestrooms in The Main building (including EXECUTIVE HOUSE ZEN) are equipped with air vents under the windows, allowing guests to keep the air in their room fresh.

PPE kits for staying guests
As an additional amenity item, a PPE kit consisting of hand sanitizer and mask is offered in the guestrooms in The Main building and EXECUTIVE HOUSE ZEN.

Efforts within the guestrooms
-Careful cleaning and disinfection of the guestrooms
-Thorough disinfection of high-touch surfaces such as light switches, doorknobs, room service menu, etc.
-Suspension of minibar service

Procedures at our buffet restaurants have been modified so that staff will handle most of the serving and shared utensils are no longer in use.

Our chefs often visit farmers and producers in person, seeking the best meat and vegetables to serve in our restaurants and banquets. “J-cereal” is our original multigrain mix, which was created as such an effort to pursue wellness in the food we offer, and is rich with proteins, dietary fibers, minerals, and vitamins. Refresh your body and mind with a stroll in the Japanese garden

With a history of more than 400 years, the Japanese garden at Hotel New Otani Tokyo had in the past been the property of various known samurai lords. The 10-acre-ground features several ancient stone lanterns, scarlet bridges over koi ponds, a stone garden, waterfall, as well as a myriad of flowers and rich foliage that bloom or change colors from season to season. While nestled in the heart of this busy city, the quiet and peaceful ambience that enfolds the expanse provides a moment of repose and rejuvenation to those who stroll its paths.
