Fireworks in the night sky of Osaka
Tenjin Matsuri fireworks are a dazzling display held over the Okawa River in Osaka. They mark the climax of festival, lighting up the night sky with over 3,000 colorful bursts.
Funatogyo (Boat Procession)
“Funatogyo” (boat procession), a highlight of the festival along with the fireworks, features more than 100 boats sailing up the Okawa River one after another. When the boats come and go, the Osaka-jime, a hand-clapping ritual that is performed mainly in Osaka, is heard.
Food Stalls
The Tenjin Festival site is lined with traditional stalls that are uniquely Japanese. The variety of gourmet food available at the stalls is one of the pleasures of the Tenjin Festival. Please use them to fill up your stomach before the festival.
