About the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 goals and 165 targets to be achieved by 2030, adopted at the UN summit meeting held in September 2015. Designed to eradicate poverty and build a sustainable society, these objectives are to be accomplished through collaborated efforts among all stakeholders including businesses, governments, non-profit organizations, etc.

≪Sustainable Wellness menus≫
・SATSUKI’s Raisin Sandwiches
A sustainable sandwich cookie that uses soy butter, and cascara, which is the dried and ground skin and flesh of the coffee cherry that is said to have many health benefits.
・Multigrain “J-cereal” menus
“J-cereal” is Hotel New Otani’s original blend of eight grains used in a number of dishes served at our restaurants. The mixture includes foxtail and great millet, and amaranth from Iwate prefecture, and is rich in dietary fibers, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols.
In light of its experiences during the Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995 and the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011, Hotel New Otani Osaka conducts fire and emergency drills three times a year in order to enhance and maintain our disaster resilience. The hotel also participates in the local community’s simulation drills regarding accommodation of and support for stranded commuters.

Training programs are offered so that staff may enhance basic and advanced skills as a business person and hospitality employee. Seminars on emergency first aid and food sanitation are also held.
Hotel New Otani Osaka prohibits all forms of harassment and abuse in the workplace. All employees are required to undergo training programs to prevent such acts.
・Acceptance of travelers at times of disasters
During natural disasters such as earthquakes, Hotel New Otani Osaka is ready to accept domestic and international travelers who are stranded, provide multilingual information regarding the status of public transportation, etc. to its guests, and offer all possible means of support to those in need.
All staff members undergo training sessions to deal with incidents such as theft, sexual crime, etc., taught by instructors from the police department and other law enforcement authorities.
・Elimination of anti-social forces
Hotel New Otani Osaka is aware of its social responsibility and public mission. The hotel stipulates a basic guideline against anti-social forces in order to eliminate any relationships with such organizations or individuals, and advocate the eradication of such forces. The hotels within Osaka city cooperate and share information on fraudulent activities and other criminal behavior by antisocial forces, in an effort to prevent any crimes within the hotel.
