Makuhari Messe

Makuhari's main attraction is the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex, which is the second largest convention center in Japan behind Tokyo Big Sight. The center's eleven exhibition halls, conference hall and 9000 seat event hall host major tradeshows and technology exhibitions such as the annual Tokyo Game Show, Tokyo Auto Salon and Jump Festa, along with dozens of other events, conventions and concerts.

AEON Mall Makuhari

Opened by the Chiba bayshore in late 2013, this massive shopping heaven (or hell, depending on your attitude) is the Aeon group's flagship and houses a whopping 350 shops, a multiplex movie theatre, a branch theatre of the Yoshimoto comedy empire, a bouldering gym, a running track and much much more. Mihama-en Japanese Garden

This Japanese garden located Makuhari Seaside Park was created to bring together Japanese culture and global exchange in Makuhari New City. Different areas of the park, which features a lake and spring, represent landscapes such as the mountains, rivers, oceans, and forests. “Shoraitei” a sukiya-style teahouse built with Kitayama cedar Kyoto, is located within the park grounds.

Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festival

It is the largest fireworks show of Chiba Prefecture. Every year it attracting over 300,000 spectators to come to Makuhari Beach to enjoy this fireworks show, and it is told that over 23,000 fireworks was set off in 2019's summer.

Naritasan Shinshoji Temple

With a rich history of over 1,000 years, Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is famous for warding off evil and, among shrines and temples throughout the country, welcomes the second highest number of visitors over the first three days of each new year. Its five buildings, including a three-stories pagoda and Shakado Hall, are designated as national important cultural properties.

Chiba Folk Museum (Inohana Park)

It is the symbol of Chiba city, a 5-floor museum with the form of a traditional Japanese castle. Various materials which detail the Chiba city's history and Chiba Clan who ruled this area are exhibited inside of the building.

Summer Festival “Oyako Sandai Natsu-matsuri”

This event takes place around Chiba Station in mid-August every year. Besides local residents of Chiba, great many visitors from overseas also come here to enjoy this traditional festival by the Chiba Odori dance.

Prefectural Museum of Art

This is Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art, it comprised of 8 large exhibition halls and some other function halls. This museum collects works and information related to artists with connections to Chiba Prefectural, such as artwork of Japanese pioneer of modern Western-style art Chu Asai and Barbizon School landscapes by Jean-Francois Millet. Some special and planned exhibitions are also held periodically.

Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art

It has a diverse collection focusing on the 20th century art housed in architecture that is uniquely designed for exhibitions and in accordance with the natural environment; the museum creates harmony among three elements: “Artwork”,” Architecture” and “Nature”.

National Museum of Japanese History

It is a national history museum for general research, containing exhibits related to Japanese history and culture. The general exhibition spans 6 galleries with each covering a period from prehistoric times to modern Japan. The well designed displays include great many culture artifacts, reproductions and models.

KYU-HOTTA-TEI

KYU-HOTTA-TEI a Japanese national important cultural property, and is one of Japan's best preserved residences of a daimyo (feudal lord) that was built in traditional style. Outside of the residence a beautifully designed Japanese style garden is another attractive sightseeing spot. Nowadays citizens visit the garden to relax and to enjoy flowers in each season, as well as cherry blossom and Japanese red pines viewing.
