A total of 42 stone lanterns are found in the Garden, some along the pathways and slopes, and some by the pond.
< The Kaneiji Lantern  >
The dignified looking lantern was acquired by Yonetaro Otani from the Kaneiji Temple in Ueno, Tokyo. It was made in the Kamakura Era (1183-1333).
< The Kasuga Lantern  >
This is another lantern from the Kamakura Era. The twelve animals of the Japanese zodiac are engraved on the hexagonal surface, each facing the direction it represents.
< The Nuresagi Lantern  >
This lantern dates back to the Edo (or Tokugawa Shogunate) Era (1603-1867). Only few lanterns of this particular design remain today and is therefore considered a very valuable item.
